Conclusion

This is basically how I started up my home server.

When the Portainer GUI was up and ready, I really wanted to have more hours in the day to learn as much as I could and mess around with it.

........and now the journey continues.

Edit - 5th May, 2025

I hardly use Portainer at all now. It's a great way to learn Docker Compose as Portainer 'Stacks' is almost the same thing.

I did find some difficulty connecting to Synology NAS as a permanent volume, but then realised (took me a while before the bulb lit up) it was easier to mount the Synology in Ubuntu Linux permanently.

I still use it occasionally, but prefer to use SSH connections and a docker-compose.yml file.
